The very essence of a holy occasion is about attaining enlightenment and doing something that cleanses the spirit and soul. However, times are changing and people are defining such rituals as per their convenience. The Maha Shivaratri is a very auspicious occasion and while Lord Shiva is worshipped, the system requires you to stay awake the whole night.

As part of the being awake process, it is meant to be spent doing prayers, chanting the God’s name or watching something divine. However, our folks have taken it to a different level. For many decades, the cinema theatres tend to exhibit movies all through the night and for many it is a fun time.

While that is alright this year proved to be something terrible. Well, one of the noted theatres in Hyderabad has screened ‘Arjun Reddy’ and given its content, you know very well it appeals only to adults. This has not gone well with few moral police who say “Watching movies itself is wrong on this holy night and they have shown ‘Arjun Reddy’. We only thank god there was no screening of ‘GST’”
