Rajkummar Rao- the current face of the offbeat cinema in India has come up with a new flick called Newton. He is habituated to surprise the audience with his choice of films with hatke storylines and even audience also got prepared to see the fresh films from him. Now, we will talk about his fresh attempt Newton in the following Newton Review.

Story Plot:

Newton (Rajkummar Rao) who happens to be the honest government clerk sent to conduct the election in the Chhattisgarh forest. He voluntarily comes forward to perform the duty of Presiding Officer in the Maoist influenced area in the Central India and there he faces off with Security Commandant Officer (Pankaj Tripathi) who oversees the security in that area.

In that scenario, what are the challenges that he was faced during the electioneering and how he convinced the local tribal people to take part in the election? (Interestingly that polling booth has only 76 votes).

Performances:

Rajkummar Rao: He is the torch bearer of new age cinema in India and this performance falls into the club of good roles in his film career. Rajkummar Rao carries this film on his shoulders effortlessly and as usual he got the merit marks.

Pankaj Tripathi: This seasoned actor shined in the Commandant Officer role and he showed his skill of acting in the scenes of identical rivalry with Newton. He easily entered into the skin of security officer role and he made believe everyone with his performance.

Raghubir Yadav as Loknath who acted as a deputy to the Newton character generated fun in the film with his witty dialogues.

Legendary actor Sanjay Mishra will be seen in few scenes and Anjali Patil as Malko gave her best to the role.

Analysis:

Amit V Masurkar- scriptwriter & director for this film made a genuine attempt by showcasing the lives of Tribes which are away from the modern India. He even touched the sensitive things like- Tribal people facing the tough times due to the war between Police & Maoists.

Amit became successful in the initial process by casting Rajkummar Rao as the protagonist for this flick and his script has transferred onto the screen without any hiccups with this spotless actor’s performance. Newton’s character of rules-abiding employee showcased the honesty in writing of this role and Amit wanted everyone to follow the same in real life as well.

This film questions the situations that surrounded around ‘Adivasis’. Amit script Newton conveys a strong hard hitting fact from the Tribes version through a dialogue- ‘No Election will change the fate of us (Aadivaasis)’. At the same time, Amit made sure that his screenplay doesn’t run on a serious note and by including some humour dialogues the screenplay travels with an ease.

Plus Points:

+ Script

+ Performances

Minus Points:

- It may not attract everyone

Final Verdict:

Newton is an honest attempt by the crew. If you want to see the fresh subject, go for Newton.
