A synonym of beauty, a talented actress, a sincere wife and a caring mother. Who else it could be other than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan? Having won Miss India and Miss World titles in the same year of 1994, she went about creating sensations in Hindi, English and Tamil films. It’s known that she made her debut through Maniratnam’s Iruvar (1997), dubbed into Telugu as Iddaru. That film was a critical success and won 2 National Awards and also Best Film award at the Belgrade International Film Festival.

But, the fact is that Maniratnam approached Aish way back in 1992 for the film Roja. She was busy doing her modeling assignments then, which made her deny Maniratnam’s offer. Obviously, Aish didn’t know what she was missing! The offer later became a boon to Madhubala for all the good reasons who was cast in the film Roja. It didn’t take long for Aish to realize the intensity of what she rejected. She felt sorry for herself and fortunately she did not repeat the same when she was given one more opportunity by Maniratnam himself. Of course, her beauty is too good to ignore and that’s how Aish made her debut on the silver screen with Iddaru. Later on, though she faced difficulties in her acting career in the beginning, she gradually proved her acting talent through films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Jodha Akbar which brought her awards and rewards. With films like these, she made it clear to the critics that she’s not just a beautiful actress, but also an able actress.
