Maaya is an upcoming entertainer starring Harshavardhan Rane, Avantika, Sushma and Nandini Rai in the lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Sekhar Chandra and the film is directed by Neelakanta, whose films always have a unique flavor. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The album begins in a relaxed manner with Em Chesthu Unna with competent vocals and great classical touch. The composition is based on the ever popular Carnatic Raaga Abheri and here it is blended well with modern orchestration. The string section and percussions add much value to the lilting melody. Usage of Harmonium in the second interlude with keyboards is done quite well.

Pokiri Raja is a totally contrasting composition with funky touches and folk rhythm section. The orchestration is mellowed despite having an item song touch which is novel to modern Telugu Films. However, the rhythm section sounds irresistibly like a Gujarati number which may not appeal to the Telugu Listeners.

The melodic touch is retained with Endhuko with groovy orchestration and delicate piano touches. The overall composition itself is laid back and relaxing for the listener to cherish. Interludes are decently woven with string section and violin solos. The mellowed acoustic guitar is used well in the second interlude.

The album gets to trance mode Avunanna Kadhu Anna with good house mix rhythm section and progressive symphony. Poetic lyrics add much value to the composition with soulful violin in the first interlude. The bass guitar is heard in pronounced manner throughout the composition as well.

It is finally the time for title track Maaya which acts a crescendo for the album. The track has a great philosophical touch with respect to lyrics and the singer performs exceptionally well. The trance styled rhythm is retained for this track with a different avatar. The progressive style in which the track is composed is worth commending.

Verdict:
Maaya is a decent album from Sekhar Chandra with good set of melodies and paced up tracks. Good lyrics, fine orchestration and presentation makes it an enjoyable hearing. However, the album lacks the punch required for an out and out commercial Telugu Film.
