There’s a saying that History repeats, which means which happened earlier will happen back and it’s applicable for films too. There was a healthy trend of multi-starrers in Tollywood, but the trend totally diminished from mid 80s where Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna and Venkatesh were ruling the industry. Be it lack of proper storyline or the Heroes weren’t comfortable with sharing screen space with other hero, somehow multi-starrers didn’t happen in Tollywood for over two-and-half decades.
After a gap of many years, Tollywood began seeing the culture of multi-starrers and many say the credit should be given to victory Venkatesh. Well, he teamed up with Mahesh Babu for the film Seetamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu which became a super hit and has triggered multi-starrer sentiment.
In the case of SVSC, more than the story it was the multi-starrer factor that really brought success to the film. We have recently seen yet another and most unique multi-starrer Manam which brought all 3 generation Akkineni Heroes together on screen. Similarly, another multi-starrer is shaping up with the same sentiment. We are talking about the new movie Gopala Gopala starring Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan.
Call it a coincidence or anything else, but it is heard that actually Pawan Kalyan was the chosen one for SVSC but the role eventually went to Mahesh. And now the Venky-Pawan combination is materializing through this new project. Gopala Gopala is the remake of the Bollywood hit movie Oh My God starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. Let us hope this sentiment works again at the box office.
