Venkatesh Daggubati in a Silent Film?

July 10, 2014 - 02:04 PM IST Venkatesh | Drushyam

In the early days, there were only mookie movies (movies with no voice), slowly Talkie movies flourished and mookie movies have become past. But, again after so many years one hero is trying to experiment with mookie genre. He is none other than Tollywood Hero Venkatesh. Amongst the heroes, Venkatesh has never stepped back from doing off beat roles. He is currently busy with his set of projects but the point to note is, he seems to have started a second innings of sorts. He is going only for those films that carry content and substance than anything else. Notable among them were Seetamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and the forthcoming release Drushyam.

While he is already busy with the shooting of his other movie Gopala Gopala, the remake of Bollywood hit Oh My God, discussions have begun on his next movie. And there is an interesting talk making rounds that it is most likely a silent film.

Apparently, Pilla Jamindar fame Ashok had approached Venky long back with the concept of a Mookie film. But at that time, Venky’s Shadow became a colossal disaster and the silent movie subject was shelved. But with Drishyam setting stage to score a big hit, will the silent film revive now is the talk among cine circles. The answer will be out in just few days. Well if this materializes, he would be the only second Hero after Kamal Hasan to do a Mookie movie. Earlier Kamal Hasan did a mookie movie Pushpaka Vimanam directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao.
