Big Doubts on Anjaan Title

July 28, 2014 - 11:17 AM IST Sikindar

There is a specialty about the titles of Tamil films - about 99 percent of them are in proper Tamil language. Well, the government gives tax exemptions which works as a motivation and secondly Tamilians are known for a strong admiration towards their mother tongue. But one film’s title has raised eyebrows.

It is the movie Anjaan starring Suriya and Samantha. Many have raised doubts over this title because usually they use only Tamil titles for Tamil films but not Hindi. However, Anjaan sounds like a Hindi word and hence many are wondering why this Hindi title? But the fact is that ‘Anjaan’ in Tamil means ‘fearless or the one who knows no fear’.

That way, the title is quite intelligent because even north Indians will connect to it instantly. During the mid-90s, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit did a film called Anjaam and it sounds quite similar to Anjaan.

All in all, the thought behind the title has created some stir positively and the result will be known on August 15 when the film hits the theatres. Anjaan is releasing as Sikindar in Telugu produced by renowned producer Lagadapati Sreedhar and the audio release of the Telugu version is scheduled on the 31st of this July.
