Generally, Heroes are often regarded as ‘Superstars’, ‘Megastars’ etc.

But Sridevi is one of the few heroines produced by Indian cinema who earned that stardom and status. She just proved to the world why she is regarded so.

We know Rajinikanth has a huge fan-base in Japan but after him, Sridevi emerged as the one who could garner such a huge following there. Her recent outing English Vinglish that released in over 33 screens in Japan has minted over 420,000 USD [around Rs. 2.56 crore] in just 1 month of its release. This film has become the second Hindi film after 3 Idiots to have put these impressive figures.

Usually Rajinikanth films do such kind of business in Japan but Sridevi has proved her stamina as well. This film directed by Gauri Shinde beautifully showcases how an average Indian homemaker overcomes her setback of poor English speaking skills in an overseas trip through pure determination.

The film was a brilliant hit here in India and is now repeating the feat wherever it goes. Hail Superstar Sridevi!
