Power is an upcoming entertainer starring Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, Hansika and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles. The film is directed by K.S.Ravindra and music is composed by S.S.Thaman. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The album begins with a power packed solo Devuda Devuda sung by the talented Adnan Sami. Neat string section and groovy guitars pave the way for the cool track. Despite the similarities with Thaman’s earlier compositions, the track is decent start for an entertainment centric album like this sort. The usage of local percussions is done well throughout the composition.
Badmashu Pilla begins with a funky dialogue prelude about youth leading to a catchy rhythm section. Popular composer Chakri sang this song and added his trademark massy touch to the song. The track carries a typical Thaman signature and has traces of his earlier compositions like “Champaka Mala” from Kandireega.
The inevitable mass touch occurs with Nautanki having breezy guitar sections and sung by Ravi Teja himself. His voice brings a fun element to the track and M.M.Mansi rightfully complements with her funky voice. The rhythm is essentially indigenous with good pace.
Champesindhe is a laid back melody with Trance like rhythm section and contemporary orchestration. Karthik’s voice strikes the right chord and Sirivennela Sitaramasastry’s lyrics add much value to the track. This track can be called as one of the best aspects of this album for what it offers.
The album enters finale with Nuvve Nenu having an incredible mass touch with thavil percussions. Sooraj and Santhosh sing in the style of Mika Singh and make it a fun filled composition. However, the track gets monotonous as it progresses by.
Verdict:
Power is a fair album from Thaman. The album could have been much better with a good balance between massy numbers and feel good melodies which usually exists for Ravi Teja albums. Thaman needs to reinvent his composing style to create a better impact on the listeners.
