Oscars – the dream land of many actors and film technicians. It is regarded as the appreciation of the highest decree in the movie world.
Though it has remained a far off dream for our Indian cinema for many years, our very own Maestro AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty won the Oscars and made us proud on the international dais! However, there is a misconception about Oscars that they are just for the English/French or other cinema! But every year we send a film as an Official Entry to Oscars (Best Foreign Film category) for which many regional films compete.
And this year besides Telugu films Manam and Minugurulu, 28 other films competed for this category and National Award winning Hindi Road film Liar’s Dice (starring Geethanjali Thapa, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the leads) directed by Geethu Mohandas has been chosen by the Film Federation of India.
Did you know? Only 3 Indian submissions have made it to the final 5 at the Oscars in the past (Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan) and 4 Indians have won Individual Oscars (Bhanu Athaiya, Resul Pookutty, AR Rahman and lyricist Gulzar)
