There are no two words when we say that Tollywood is the second largest industry in Indian cinema after the big Bollywood. Over the years, Telugu cinema has also grown in quality be it storylines, making standards and creativity. However, what happened right now seems to be a slap on the face.
The most prestigious event for the entertainment industry is International Film Festival of India which is held in Goa every year. In that, the ‘Indian Panorama’ section is a great platform to showcase regional talent. But reports reveal there is not a single Telugu film in 'Indian Panorama' section.
On the other hand, the Malayalam circuit has got 7 films, Marathi industry is having 7 films, Bengali cinema is offering 5 films followed by 1 film each from Tamil, Kannada, Oriya and Assamese. Do our films lack that substance? Or are we not aggressive in pushing our cinema? Whatever the reasons may be, this sure is an insult to Tollywood and a time for the cine elders to introspect.
