The Urvasi that many of us know is the extremely beautiful Apsara we hear about in Hindu mythology. But the Urvasi we are talking about is an honor that is given to the actress who has performed extremely well and earned the National Award in the best actress category.
In case you are not aware, the actress who gets the national award also gets the Urvasi title. That’s how we got ‘Urvasi’ Sharada, the senior actress. Usually, this title is not being used much these days but then the prefix was quite prevalent. This year, the ‘Urvasi’ title has gone to the curly haired beauty Kangana Ranaut.
She got it for her performance in the movie Queen. Meanwhile, the best film award gets the prefix ‘Swarna Kamal’ whereas the best actor award gets the prefix ‘Bharat’. This year, the best actor award ie Bharat has gone to Kannada actor Vijay for the movie Nanu Avanalla Avalu. So, Kangana Ranaut can now be called as ‘Urvasi’ Ranaut as well.
