One of the most awaited yet testing movies of the recent times is Uttama Villain. Given the fact that it is coming from the compound of Kamal Haasan, the expectations are naturally high. But where there is Kamal Haasan, there is bound to be certain controversy. So, Uttama Villain also is going through that phase now.
A court case has been filed against the movie in Chennai by VHP and it has to do with the lyrics of one song which revolves around Bhakta Prahlada and Hiranyakasapa. VHP has reportedly alleged the lyrics are objectionable and hurting the sentiments of Vishnu devotees. The lines go like this – ‘hari hari ani mana vairini talachuta viluvaa? vetakarangaa pandiyanu vaadena daivam?’ and in Tamil –‘ashtaakshara dushtappayal naamam…’
In lieu of that, iQlik approached lyricist Ramajogayya Sastry who wrote single card for the Telugu version of Uttama Villain. Sharing his thoughts, Ramajogayya clarified it is a conversation between Hiranyakasapa and Bhakta Prahlad wherein the king scolds Lord Vishnu as Prahlad is Vishnu devotee. He added that it is not part of a cinematic idea but actual mythology wherein the lyrics are Hiranyakasapa’s questions to Prahlada. Sastry stated it is not the director’s thought and expressed surprise on how a case can be filed on this. Logically speaking, this case may not stand ground and the film has already got a clean U certificate.
