Tagline: Watch it Values!

Plot:

Viraj Aanand (Allu Arjun) is the son of a millionaire Satyamurthy (Prakash Raj) who gives utmost importance to values and ethics in life. Viraj gets engaged to Pallavi (Adah Sharma) and when everything is going right and smooth in life for Viraj, some unexpected series of events veers Viraj’s life towards a person called Deva Raj (Upendra). How did Viraj take turbulent path that has his love, life and his father’s name at stake and win the challenge forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Allu Arjun: The Stylish Star is exploring himself and growing as an actor with each film. This star who adorns a huge mass following keeps his stardom and all the commercial equations aside and gets into the skin of the character and story quite effortlessly in S/o Satyamurthy. Besides his comic timing and dance moves, Allu Arjun proves that he can actually get tears in your eyes too.

Samantha: She was cute and hot but not actually essentially an asset for the film.

Adah Sharma: She did a decent job in the short and sweet character she was given.

Nithya Menen: She played a key role in the film. Her entry actually spices up the story.

Upendra: This exceptional actor had an interesting character to essay and it was a delight to have him back in action on the Telugu celluloid. He was powerful and charms you away with his mere presence.

Rajendra Prasad: He played a pivotal role in the film. He makes you laugh, think, hate and even cry with his exceptional portrayal of his character.

Sneha: Her mere presence brightens the frame and she was elegant enough in the limited role she was given.

Ali: The ace comedian has a full length role but has been unfortunately used as an accessory to the hero.

Brahmanandam: The star comedian has once again turned the knight in the shining armor for the story.

MS Narayana: He is seen in yet another key role but this time it was more of an emotional role which the legendary actor excelled.

The rest of the cast including Sampath Raj, Vennela Kishore, Sindhu Thulani and others have done a decent job!

Direction:

We could not figure out when Trivikram has left some clue about the scope of the film in his speech at the audio success meet. If we can recollect, Trivikram mentioned that his producer has asked him to tell a simple yet heartwarming story that everyone can relate and relish. Yes, Son of Satyamurthy is a simple rather routine story with traces of Attarintiki Daredi in the treatment of the story.

This film has exceptional cast, gripping performances from the lead actors, chartbuster music, Trivikram mark logics and one-liners but somehow lacks the ‘wow factor’ to make it a blockbuster. This is in fact a simple story rather kept very simple. The narration lacks the intensity and spice that would appeal to the masses.

The mission of the protagonist that sets off with an emotional prelude travels in the right direction to reach the interval block and gains some spine finally. With its share of promises to keep up, the second half actually picks up some acceleration and when we are expecting a roller coaster ride, things start going downhill. What if you get seated in a roller coaster expecting some real fun but you are given a single, short and plain ride?

First Half: The performances of Allu Arjun, Samantha, Ali & Rajendra Prasad keep you engaged enough.

Interval Bang: He wasn’t bang but a predictable and much expecting knot.

Second Half: Now this is the show of Upendra, Rajendra Prasad & Brahmanandam. Things get interesting with Nitya Menen! They are the true assets and knights in the shining armors for the film.

On a whole, the film leaves you an impression of a good film with loads values which could have been told can actually entertain us better

Merits:

- Performances of Allu Arjun, Rajendra Prasad, Upendra, Nitya Menen and Brahmanandam.
- Trivikram’s Dialogues with more logic and less punch
- Brahmanandam and Rajendra Prasad comedy, especially in the second half.

De-merits:

- Actors like Samantha and Ali were underutilized.
- The songs looked rather forced.
- Routine treatment with wishy-washy narration.

Music:

The album by DSP is already a chartbuster but Seethakalam song and Super Machi song are being relished.

Others:

Cinematography by Prasad Murella, Art Direction by Prakash and production values were good.

Verdict:

Son of Satyamurthy is a good film with screen full of artists and story full of values. However, it remains to be a one-time watch time pass affair for the masses. Watch it with family for values instead of conventional commercial entertainment.
