'Want to Focus on One Film at Once'- Kriti Sanon Interview

April 23, 2015 - 01:30 PM IST Naga Chaitanya Akkineni | Kriti Sanon

The tall legged beauty Kriti Sanon is not just confined to glamour and appearance but also an engineer who passed with distinction. She could impress the logic based director Sukumar with her persona instantly and bagged the luckiest female lead role opposite Mahesh Babu in 1-Nenokkadine. Just when Telugu Audience were wondering where this promising young lady has gone, she is back with a bang in Sudhir Varma’s Dohchay opposite Naga Chaitanya which is all set to release tomorrow. On that eve, here is an iQlik exclusive chit chat with the lovely actress:

Hello Kriti.. how are you doing?
Hi..I am doing great!

What made you accept a different themed film like Dohchay?
I really liked the script the moment it was narrated to me. My role was even more challenging and the film has lot of entertainment and fun moments. There is no such film in Telugu which has so much entertainment in crime genre.

Please tell us about your role in Dohchay..
My character’s name is Meera in the film. She is a medical college student and bunks college often! In short, Meera is much of a tomboy!

Is the character Meera close to your real life?
No way! I am more feminine and disciplined. I always loved studies and never bunked college during engineering!

You didn’t sign up for any film after Nenokkadine in Telugu until Dohchay. Any reason behind it?
I did a Hindi movie Heropanti after that. I want to focus on one film at once. I strongly feel result will be distorted if too many films are done at once.  Moreover, second film for any actress is quite crucial as it would establish her worth in the industry. That’s why even it was late, I accepted Dohchay.

Do you find it difficult in following up Telugu?
I may not understand Telugu but I have good memory power. I can remember dialogues even if they are said once. Additionally, I also do good homework before coming to sets.

Did you find any difference in working style between Tollywood and Bollywood?
I personally feel all film industries are same except the language they are made. Working style is almost same because many technicians work in various languages.

How is Dohchay going to be? In the trailer, it does look like an out and out thriller!
It might have given such impression but the film has lot of entertainment factors. There is suspense in every scene and the audience would be thrilled as the film unfolds.

How was your working experience with Naga Chaitanya?
We both belong to the same age group and hence could connect well easily. He takes very little time to do a scene and mostly his scenes are approved in two takes. He never behaved like a senior with me and was quite friendly. Our chemistry has worked out great and it is evident in posters and in the film as well.

How are you balancing Bollywood and Tollywood at the same time?
I started working in both industries almost at same time. Both the film industries helped me a lot and embraced my work. I am glad to get some interesting scripts in Telugu as well and will strive hard to manage both the industries in ease.

Your working experience with versatile filmmaker Sudhir Varma?
He is a spontaneous guy and knows what he wants. Sudhir usually doesn’t encourage artists to go for more than two takes for a scene. In fact, he approves a scene in first take itself.  Even if we request for additional takes, he smiles and politely refuses to do so!

Did you have any action sequences in Dohchay?
Not really but I would be seen in chase sequences which are similar to Nenokkadine.

Dohchay’s audio has become quite a rage since it is released. Your take on the album?
The film has all the young crew and it is a huge plus. They know what the current generation needs and the film caters to their tastes perfectly. Music by Sunny MR is definitely a plus.

How was it working for Hindi film Heropanti, which is a remake of Telugu film Parugu?
Well, there were many changes made in Hindi version. It was good to work in the film.

Your upcoming films?
I’m doing two films namely Farz and Dilwale and they would be releasing soon. When it comes to Telugu, I didn’t hear any new scripts. However, I have two films in hand and will let you know about the details soon.

Okay.. thanks and wishing you the best for Dohchay!
Thanks a lot!
