You must have noticed it quite a lot that when our native Telugu directors do well outside Tollywood we respect them here a lot. The eccentric genius RGV rocked Bollywood and he has got respect, image and attention that he is a national celebrity.
On and off K Raghavendra Rao, EVV Satyanarayana, Bapu did few Hindi movies but we cannot call them national celebs. Among the current generation, the intellectual director Krish has got that potential because he has shaped up his debut flick Gabbar Is Back in a very good way.
But the cine pundits say he has to continue making films with the same gusto and then it would work. We have to wait and see if he would do that. The second person is Neelakantha who has got the chance to direct Murder 4. Even Sekhar Kammula has been saying he wanted to direct Hindi movies.
Prior to them, Nagesh Kukunoor has got national image and they say he has got an offbeat filmmaker image. Already, we have two Telugu guys Raj Nidimoru and DK who are doing commercial movies. Though S S Rajamouli has not done a single Hindi movie he has got a national image and entire Bollywood has got its full eyes on him. This became more after they watched his Eega. Now Baahubali’s impact is also there.
