Kalakeya Character Derived From Kalayavana

Perhaps the biggest and most interesting shock element of the magnum opus Baahubali is the character of Kalakeya and his Kiliki language. While many were wondering how this character was sketched, here is some info that can help. The origin or Kalakeya seems to be from the Amar Chitra Katha books.

Apparently, there is a book by name ‘Adventures Of Krishna’ and in that, there is an episode involving Krishna-Jarasandha story. In this story, there is a character called Kalayavana. He is a very cruel man who has a barbaric army. So, Krishna and his Balarama do some magic to eliminate Kalayavana.

Krishna runs into a cave and Kalayavana also runs behind him. In that cave Muchukunda Maharshi is sleeping covered in a blanket. Kalayavana thinks it is Krishna and kicks him. The sage gets angry and burns Kalayavana into ash with his power. In Baahubali also it is something similar, the brothers go in two different directions and kill Kalakeya. Well, it looks like from a comic book, the tough taskmaster Rajamouli took inspiration and created this historic marvel.
