September 19, 2015 - 04:25 PM IST Kanche

When you listen to songs, most of the time it has to do with the feel and the music but there is hardly any concentration on the lines that are written. But there are those passionate poets who love to understand the essence of the lyrics. At times like these, some lyrics sure cause a lot of confusion.

This is happening right now with one song in the upcoming movie Kanche. The number is ‘Bhaga bhagamani’ and one part of the lyric goes like this-

‘Nisi nishaada karonmuktha duritha saraaghaatam

Mrudulaalasa swapnaalasa hruthkapothapaatham

Prudhu vyadhaartha prudhvimaata nirghoshita chetam

Nishtura nirvedamtho nischeshtitha geetam’

These lines are penned by Sirivennela Seetaramasastry and many are breaking their heads to know the meaning of this. Well, here is the answer. The meaning of this is drawing similarity from ‘Manishadam…’ the first sloka of Ramayana. Apparently, Valmiki who was a hunter shot an arrow towards a pair of birds and one of them fell dead. The pain it went through while undergoing its death transformed Valmiki from a hunter to a sage.
