Yes you read the right statement! As we all knew, Baahubali and Srimanthudu became trendsetting films in and made an impact worldwide.
Going into the details, the much awaited Indian Oscars Screening Committee verdict was revealed today and our much anticipated entrants Baahubali and Srimanthudu failed to impress the committee. It came as a shocker to the fans of both these films and interestingly, Court (a Marathi film) has been declared as an Official Indian Entry to the Oscars 2016. This Marathi film was directed by Chaitanya Tamhane and released theatrically on 17 April 2015 in India.
In the past also, Rajamouli himself ruled out the rumors of Baahubali making to the Oscars and however due to the humungous collections and approbation it earned, fans expected the film deserves to be an Oscar entry but the screening committee thought otherwise.
Well, the debate about commercial success being a criterion for making into the Oscars entry has being going from a long while and it never concluded. Anyhow tough luck for Baahubali and Srimanthudu and here’s wishing good luck to Court – a true movie lover would be proud anyways!
