Keechaka is an upcoming film based on true events directed by N.V.B. Choudary. Music for the film is composed by Dr. Josyabhatla and the songs are penned by Rama Jogayya Sastry and Vennelakanti. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The offbeat album begins with a classy note by Alupule sung effectively by Pranavi and Nakul Abhyankar. Penned in an optimistic manner by Vennelakanti, the track is quite pleasant with decent string section and mellowed sequence. The interludes are quite good layered with piano, saxophone and string section.
Theme A arrives next in the legendary voice of K.S.Chitra and comprises of an eerie expression. The flute is used in an extravagant manner laced with brilliant symphony and live drumming. Chitra does perfect justice with her emotional rendition explaining about the plight of violence against women in the Country.
While the previous Theme was more on the underplayed fashion, Theme B is more of Hard Rock revenge style with usage of electric guitars, angry chorus and effective live drumming. Chitra once again makes her presence felt with a fighting spirit this time.
The same intensity is retained with Theme C in an impressive fusion with folk music and Western classical symphony. Chitra’s vocals are rightfully supported with good string section and violin usage. This track explores the further dimensions of a woman’s aggression in terms of lyrics and music.
The album suddenly takes a turn with a folkish item number Naa Choopu rendered in husky tone of Kalpana and supported by R.B. Srinivas. Rama Jogayya Sastry experiments on fancy usage of words and the music support the overall composition well. Kalpana takes the track single handedly forward with her confident voice.
It is time for an honest finale with Galli Chinnadi sung by the talented artist from Telangana Goreti Venkanna. His sultry voice gives the song a great aura and his own penned lyrics are wonderful to hear. The composer gives it a modern touch by usage of mellowed sequencing and folksy drums.
Verdict:
Keechaka is a fair album which lives up to the film’s theme. It is a good experimental attempt to have an album more of Themes and untarnished folk emotions.
