Senior Actress Manorama passes away

Senior versatile actress Gopi Shanta, popularly known as Manorama (Aachi) who has played a significant part in South Indian cinema is no more.

The 78 yr old actress breathed her last at Apollo hospitals in Chennai in the late hours of Saturday due to cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure.

She was recently hospitalized and later discharged too. Manorama acted in more than 1000 films and also a well known stage performer with over 1000 stage performances to her credit. She was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri by the government of India in the year 2002.

She acted with legendary artists like NTR, MGR, Jayalalitha and also took part in several plays written by former Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi.
