Telugu Cinema is highly fortunate in the production department - thanks to great personalities like Dr. Daggubati Ramanaidu. Born in Karamchedu, Prakasham District, Ramanaidu has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award in the year 2010 – such is his contribution to Indian cinema. He has produced numerous films not only in Telugu but also in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Oriya, and Malayalam and so on. Ramanaidu holds a unique honour in Limca books of records as the most prolific producer in Indian Cinema.

Ramanaidu is one gifted producer who never compromised on production values when a film’s subject demanded it. His films have the stamp of reliable entertainment for all sections of audience. He began his film production career in 1963 with the film Anuraagam with the production name “Suresh Productions”. Sr NTR starrer Ramudu Bheemudu was his career defining film which brought him to prominence in Telugu Cinema. One can never forget the beautiful song “Telisindhi Le” featuring Jamuna and Sr NTR from this film! ANR and Vanisri starrer Prem Nagar (1971) was another milestone in Ramanaidu’s career which was indeed a film ahead of its time. Ramanaidu’s success streak continued with many more memorable as well as commercially successful films such as Jeevana Tarangalu, Soggadu, Mangalya Balam, Devatha featuring Sobhan Babu and Seceretary which again had ANR and Vanisri in the lead. He is the man in establishing the new age ANR with family oriented subjects and behind the hit pair ‘ANR-Vanisri’! Interestingly, Ramanaidu has a penchant for acting and is often spotted in either a cameo or a supporting role in many of his movies.

Dr D Rama Naidu has been instrumental in shifting the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad and Telugu cinema is inseparable without his Rama Naidu Studios. His prestigious banner Suresh Productions has introduced many fresh talents (be it actors/directors/other technicians) to us and still continues to encourage many, explore, re-invent and re-define things in Telugu cinema. Even today, many technicians continue to look up to this iconic personality, his life and contributions to cinema. Above all, he gifted us gems like Venkatesh, Suresh Babu and the current gen actors like Rana Daggubati who are carrying forward the torch and his legacy ahead.
