The quest for international recognition for Indian Cinema through Oscars has been a long standing dream. In fact, many Indian films were rejected as entries in Oscars as well since decades.

The award committee was criticized for being racist and biased in this regard but now, a unique honor has come for Indian Cinema. The Oscars decided to overcome this opinion by choosing 683 artists belonging to various countries as members for a special committee. Yesteryear Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, director Deepa Mehta and Slumdog Millionaire fame Freida Pinto got the invitation to join this prestigious group.

This is indeed a great achievement for Indian Cinema for finally getting the recognition it deserves!
