Sachin: A Billion Dreams - Review
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is an interesting biopic that takes the viewers, movie lovers and all the cricket fans deep into the life of the Master Blaster. Sachin Tendulkar is considered as God of Cricket and there are so many fans for him all over the world. There may be many cricketers in the world but there will be only one Sachin Tendulkar in the history of International Cricket. The reasons behind that and the hard work behind that has been presented on the screen in a structured format as a documentary. We are shown the life of Sachin Tendulkar right from his birth to till date.
As the Indian Cinema is running after the trend of biopics, there is a special interest for the viewers on such films. After the release of MS Dhoni - The Untold Story, the interest on this film Sachin has gone up. There are many documentary films on Sachin in the past but this is the only film that is personally endorsed by the God of cricket himself. Sachin himself plays the role of a narrator in the film to share his personal moments along with his views and fears in a sincere manner. The way he narrates every single episode of his life is so much engaging and you get a great feeling.
The film not only tells the life of Sachin as a cricketer but it also introduces us to his family and friends. There are also details about his love story, his meeting with his wife, and his memorable moments with his family members. The script has been designed by director James Erskine and Sivakumar Ananth in a way that it does not appeal like a serious biopic. The additional glamour to this documentary film is Sachin's personal videos, cricket matches, news clips. At the same time, the film also has the cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Vivian Richards, Wasim Akram, Ravi Shastri, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, Virendra Sehwag, M.S. Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh talking about Sachin.
Apart from the cricketers, we also can see Bollywood Big B Amitabh Bachchan. Legendary singer Latha Mangeshkar in the film talking about their Sachin. The film is certainly a visual feast for all Sachin fans. The narrative structure is thoroughly impressive. The ending of the film is tearful and heart-warming. Sachin’s retirement speech after winning the 2011 World Cup coming on the screen, is the best part of the film. The film has a run time of two hours and 20 minutes with each half discussing several things about the personal life of Sachin Tendulkar.
While the entire film is a highlight, the background score by A.R. Rahman adds the required fuel.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams - Verdict:
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a visual feast for all the cricket lovers. The film is inspiring too.
