We have often emphasized on how the Telugu audience is fond of two genres- comedy and family sentiment. Whenever movies like that have come, they became super hits. Among them, there is a special regard for family movies. However, sometimes the filmmakers tend to take things overboard leaving aside certain realities.
When that happens films flop. Right now, the family movies seem to be in a bit of a threat. The latest release ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ became a flop and it is clear that such kind of family stories will not get green signal. In the past the much hyped ‘Brahmotsavam’ also flopped and the reactions were very adverse from the audience.
As for ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ expectations were strong because director Satish Vegesna scored hit with his previous family treat ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’. While this is one side, on the other hand, bold movies like ‘RX 100’ are rocking. Even the latest song ‘Inkem inkem kaavale…’ from ‘Geetha Govindam’ is also showing a lot of boldness which is getting positive response. So, it looks like the trend of bold movies is getting a welcome sidelining family movies which is not a good sign.
