It has been a while since the Athiloka Sundari Sridevi left us for heavenly abode but her absence is still felt strongly here. Every now and then her topic keeps coming up and now her mantle is being taken forward by her daughter Jhanvi Kapoor. Meanwhile, a recent recognition which should have gone to Sridevi ideally has gone to someone else.

Last Saturday, the city of Washington witnessed the prestigious WIFT (Women In Films and Television) awards and they have the special Meryl Streep award given for international actresses who have contributed extensively to the world of cinema. This year, the award was given the gorgeous green eyed beauty Aishwarya Bachchan.

As such, Sridevi is called the Meryl Streep of India and in comparison to Aish’s career, Sridevi is miles ahead in terms of success and recognition. If not for her untimely and unfortunate demise, Sridevi would have been the ideal recipient. The Bollywood folks say it is Sridevi who was to get it but eventually Aish got the honours.
