Good News For Cinema Lovers: Low Ticket Rates

In what can be called a relief to the movie buffs, the cinema ticket prices are going to cost less for the consumers starting today. As per the recent notification by the government of India, the GST rates on 23 goods and services is reduced, which includes movie tickets, television sets and monitor screens, the reduced prices have come into effect starting today.

The Cinema ticket prices also have come down from Tuesday (i.e January 1st) and the new GST rates have kicked in. The GST council recently declared reduction of GST on movie tickets above Rs 100 to 18% from 28%. And on tickets less than Rs 100, the GST has been brought down to 12% from 18%. This move was also welcomed by producers guild of India and many renowned film personalities including Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher and Karan Johar.

Films which are currently in cinemas will be the first beneficiaries of this move by GST council. Currently, Ranveer's Simmba, Yash starrer KGF, Antariksham, Padi Padi Leche Manasu and Zero are big-ticket films that are running the theatres across Telugu states.
