January 03, 2019 - 04:00 PM IST

Rajinikanth is getting ready to show his power on Pongal with his upcoming entertainer Petta. The film directed by Karthik Subbaraj features Rajinikanth romancing yesteryear hotties Simran and Trisha while Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddique is playing a powerful role as a baddie.

But inside talk is Petta team is experiencing pre-release tensions at the box office. The inside report is Petta is suffering from 2.0 effect. It is known that Rajini's 2.0 released amidst huge expectations and after the film release, Lycaa claimed that the film got record collections and broke many records at the box office. But within a week they went into silent mode and in reality much to the shock of all, 2.0 turned out to be a disaster.

What shocked all is, 2.0 Telugu version did better than the original Tamil version. Even then everyone suffered losses as the Telugu version couldn't get Rs 50crs share. Under these circumstances, Vallabhaneni Ashok bagged the Telugu version rights for a dead cheap price never seen earlier for Rajini's films. Even in Kollywood, though a lot of buzzes is there, the buyers acquired the rights for reasonable rates.

Peta is not getting theatres as Ajith's Vishwasam is releasing in Tamil Nadu and three straight films are releasing in Tollywood.
