Having made more than 100 films in Telugu Film Industry, filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna has made a name for himself and his incredible work will be remembered forever. The revolutionary director entertained audiences for the last 3 decades with all kind of genres. But, his socio-fantasy films which had mesmerizing graphics got him a huge number of fans.
Kodi Ramakrishna, born in Palakollu of West Godavari district in 1949, loved being part of plays right from his school days. During his college days, he participated in some ticket plays and that made closer to film industry. After watching Dasari Narayana Rao's Thatha Manavadu, he decided to work in his direction team. After finishing his degree, he received a nod from the filmmaker. Dasari recruited Kodi as his assistant for his films like 'Yevariki Vaare Yamuna Theere', 'Swargam Narakam' and 'Manushullo Devudu'.
Later in 1981, Kodi Ramakrishna debuted as a director with 'Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnaya', featuring Chiranjeevi, and that film went on to become a super hit. Post that, he worked with Megastar for five more films - 'Aalaya Shikaram’, ‘Simhapuri Simham’, ‘Goodachari No.1’, 'Riksha Vodu' and ‘Anji’. Besides Chiranjeevi, Kodi Ramakrishna also had a long association with Balakrishna. They worked together for 'Mangammagari Manavadu', 'Muvva Gopaludu', 'Muddhula Maavayya', and 'Bala Gopaludu'.
He is the one filmmaker who takes major credit for getting graphics into Telugu cinema. His first attempt with graphics was 'Ammoru' and that movie was a massive hit at the box-office. He later continued to make films which had a high amount of graphics - Devi, Deviputrudu, Anji and Arundhati. Anushka Shetty starrer Arundhati was a trend-setting horror drama which also emerged as the biggest blockbuster in his career. In 2012, he received Raghupati Venkaiah award for his tremendous contribution to Telugu Cinema.
The filmmaker, who was suffering from Acute breathing problem from the last couple of days, passed away earlier in the day.
