Remembering Sridevi on her first death anniversary

The evergreen Sridevi Kapoor, legendary actress of Indian cinema passed away on this day last year. Her mysterious death by drowning into a bathtub at a hotel room in Dubai has shocked the entire nation. On her first death anniversary, let's recall how she became the evergreen actor of our times.

She entertained the audiences for more than five decades and made a mark for herself in the world of cinema through her glamour and acting. Born on August 13, 1963, Sridevi entered into films as a child artist and went on to work in more than 300 films and worked in all south Indian languages. In Telugu, she entertained us with films like Prema Kanuka, Sardaar Paapa Rayudu, Aakali Rajyam, Premabhishekam, Bobbili Puli, Devata, Aakhari Poratam, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Kshana Kshanam, Govinda Govinda, SP Parasuram to name a few. All these movies hold a special place in audiences' heart.

Being an actress, she gave a new definition to 'stardom' with her wide popularity and craze. And for her exemplary work in cinema field, she received the Padma Shri award in 2013. For Sridevi, cinema was her biggest love and married producer Boney Kapoor. The evergreen diva had worked her contemporaries and superstars like Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and several others. In fact, Sridevi had wider stardom with the kind of films in all the regional languages.

The evergreen Sridevi was in Mumbai, along with husband Boney and two daughters - Kushi and Jhanvi Kapoor. After taking a gap of more than a decade, she makes a striking comeback with English Vinglish under the direction of Gauri Shinde. That film fetched her several awards including Star Dust award. Her last film in 2018, Mom earned her national award as well. Few months after Sridevi's death, her daughter Jhanvi Kapoor made her acting debut with Dhadak in Bollywood. It was a remake of super hit Marathi film 'Sairat'.

On her first death anniversary, Jhanvi shared an emotional post: 'My heart will always be heavy. But I’ll always be smiling because it has you in it'.
