The theatre-war in Telugu Film Industry has been existing from last many years and through several producers and distributors raised the issue in past, there was no resolution to it. Most of the film theatres are in the clutches of 4-5 biggies in Tollywood and it eventually damaged many small budget movies. At the same time, they're cutting down theatres for good films as well. That is one of the major reasons why there's a dearth of new producers.
Not even the new producers, but the established banners are nowadays struggling to get a good number of theatres. Speaking about her struggle as a producer, Manchu Lakshmi said: I'm scared to make films as a producer now. As long as the movie is in the production stage, it's a smooth ride for us. But, it has become a daunting task to get the final product to audiences. Since the control of theatres is not in our hands, we are not sure how long our movie will stay in cinemas and when it gets taken away.
She further added, we put out heart and soul into a film and more than 150 people work day and night on it. But, it's very saddening when they abruptly take off our film ahead of any big release. Only 5-6 people control these theatres and they do not worry about small films. Also, there is no chance to question them. They do not care even if the film has Mohan Babu's daughter in it. The actress and producer made these comments on Thursday during the press meet of her new web series (Mrs. Subbalakshmi) launch.
