Kollywood star Ajith Kumar is one among the few South actors who enjoy a massive following. His movies dominate box-office at the time of release and fetch huge moolah for the makers. The latest outing of Ajith, Viswasam, was released during Pongal season and it amassed a gross of 200 Cr to emerge as the blockbuster.
On account of Ajith's birthday, Sun TV premiered Viswasam on May 1 and it was a huge treat for his fans and Tamil audiences. Viswasam, directed by Siva, has Nayanatara as the leading lady and Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu as an antagonist. Viswasam premiere was welcomed grandly by TV audiences as the film had a record breaking viewership. As per data released by BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council India), the film has registered a shattering 1.81 Crore impressions. This is highest for any Tamil film premiere.
Prior to Viswasam, Pichaikaaran (Tamil version of Bichagadu) was holding this record with around 1.76 Crore impressions and Baahubali is in the third position with 1.70 Crore viewership.
