Now that the elections are over and summer is coming to an end, it's time for more cinema again. After a brief gap, we have a star hero's film this week and a couple of medium budget Telugu films which may require your attention.
NGK (Telugu-Tamil): Suriya is one of the few Kollywood actors who enjoy good popularity in Telugu states too. His next film NGK, a political actioner, is hitting screens on this 31 May. It is a Selvaraghavan directorial featuring Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh as female leads. This is the first time they are collaborating with Suriya. The Telugu version of NGK, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is censored with clean 'U' certificate and the pre-release event happened in Hyderabad yesterday.
Falaknuma Das (Telugu): Until the trailer of Falaknuma Das landed on the internet, there was no buzz on the film. But, it is now everywhere and particularly, college-going youngsters are waiting to watch it. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi fame Vishwak Sen has acted and directed the film. Falaknuma Das is a remake of Malayalam hit 'Angamaly Diaries' and it has music by Vivek Sagar. Natural Star Nani, who attended the pre-release event of the film, was all praise for Vishwak. While Suresh Productions is releasing the film, Karate Raju has produced it.
Abhinetri-2 (Telugu, Tamil, Hindi): The Tamannah Bhatia and Prabhu Deva starrer Abhinetri-2 is a sequel to the 2016's horror film Abhinetri. The trilingual film (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi) is also releasing on May 31st. Directed by AL Vijay, the horror comedy also has Nanditha Swetha and Kovai Sarala in important roles. The trailer of the film has indicated that the sequel is going to be a double treat for audiences.
Suvarna Sundari (Telugu): The thriller film is captioned as 'History always hunts future'. Featuring Poorna, Jayaprada, Sakshi Chowdhury, Sai Kumar and Kota Srinivas in important roles, the film is made by MSN Surya. It is a mix of both horror and historical genres as the story covers incidents that happened some 600 years ago too. Going by the VFX content in the trailer, it is clear that makers have put in huge money to get the film right. But, it remains to be seen how the film that received U/A certificate will impress audiences on release day.
Godzilla 2 (English): Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters is a sequel to 2014's Godzilla and it's the 35th film in Godzilla franchise. The film made by Michael Dougherty features Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins as part of the leading cast. The monster film is scheduled to release on 30th May in India and on 31st May in the US. It is releasing in both 2D and 3D. While Legendary Pictures bankrolled the film, Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing it all over the world.
Rocketman (English): The biographical film is based on the life of veteran English musician Elton John. The film is titled after one of his biggest hits in 1972. Featuring Taron Egerton as Elton John, the biopic is slated for release on May 31 in India and US. It was released in the UK on 22 May and is receiving a positive response from viewers. The 121-minute film, written by Lee Hall, is made a budget of $41 million and it will tell John's life, his initial days, struggles and how he became a popular musician of his time.
