Shahid Kapoor's intense romantic drama 'Kabir Singh' has put up a tremendous start at the box office, by earning Rs 70.83 crore in just 3 days of its release.
The remake of Arjun Reddy has opened to a solid start at the ticket counter, collecting Rs 20.21 Cr on the first day (Friday). Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial film raked in Rs 22.71 crore on the second day and recorded a collection of Rs 27.91 crore on the third day (i.e Sunday). Despite the critical bashing on social media and scathing reviews, the film is running to houseful shows. Given that Kabir Singh remains strong on Monday too, it is more likely to touch 100-crore in next 1-2 days.
With its record earning on day-1, Kabir Singh has become Shahid's biggest opener followed by Padmaavat, which made Rs 19 crore on its first day. It has also exceeded the opening weekend collection of this year's blockbuster film Total Dhamaal (which grossed 62.40 crores from 3700 screens), whereas Kabir Singh released in just 3123 screens.
