Producers Taking Big Risk For Rajini's Darbar?

It's been a long time Superstar Rajinikanth has scored a hit. Even though his previous movies 2.0, Petta and Kaala have disappointed fans, the expectations on his upcoming film 'Darbar' are quite high. It's being made by Murugadoss AR, who is one of the most successful directors down South. So, certainly there's massive hype for Rajinikanth-Murugadoss collaboration.

But, the budget of Darbar is quite shocking - a whopping Rs 250 Crores. Banking on the huge craze for Rajini-Murugadoss combination, the producers have decided to invest such a large chunk of money. It's certainly a big risk-taking by producers, even though the film has Rajini in the lead. Because, a Rajinikant starrer has never achieved Rs 200 Cr mark in the past. On top of it, the actor is reeling under series of flops.

Given the above-mentioned circumstances, it is going to be not an easy task for Darbar to mint Rs 250 Crores. Also, Lyca Productions has succumbed to many shocks in the recent past. If this project doesn't fail to impress audiences, it will apparently leave Lyca in huge losses. As per the Kollywood reports, Darbar is coming into cinemas for Pongal, 2020. Already, there're a couple films (Bunny's Ala Vaikuntapuramlo and Mahesh Babu's Sarileru Neekevvaru) are scheduled to run into cinemas during the same season. So, taking all these into consideration, it's a daunting task for Darbar to recover Rs 250 Cr.
