2019 had witnessed 190+ film releases, fetched National Awards to few artists and technicians and introduced several fresh faces. And at the same time, some controversies have gripped TFI.
One of the biggest film-based controversy is on 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh', which was initially named as 'Valmiki'. After Boya Hakkula Porata Samithi (represented by Boya Community) filed a legal petition in High Court and gave the representation to Kurnool and Anantapur district collectors, the makers have decided to change the title. Hours before the release, the makers announced that the film is renamed as 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh' to avoid issues in the last minute.
A similar problem was faced by Ram Gopal Varma's 'Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu'. The High Court of AP has put the release on hold and directed the makers to rename it after AP govt advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy told HC that the title suggests confrontation of two castes. Also, Praja Shanti Party President KA Paul has approached Court seeking to stop the release of film because it had some contents degrading his character. Finally, director Ram Gopal finally give into the demands and agreed to change the title to 'Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu', which released on 29th November.
On other hand, Movie Artists Association (MAA) suffered many internal conflicts right from the beginning of this year. While MAA elections sparked war of words between former president Shivaji Raja and Naresh, the post poll fight was between current President Naresh and Vice-President Rajasekhar. The controversy flared up to new highs with internal issues.
Actor Rajasekhar, who got elected as Executive vice-president, is part of group that's opposing Naresh and later, several troubles mounted for Naresh's post. The tenure of MAA President in office is two years, but backend efforts were made to get him removed as MAA President.
