In South Indian cinema, fans have a tradition of bestowing honorary prefixes on their beloved actors, such as "Superstar," "Megastar," and "Power Star." Kamal Haasan, a legendary actor, has long been known as "Ulaganayagan." However, Kamal has now chosen to renounce this title.
In an official statement, Kamal expressed, "I firmly believe that an artist should not be elevated above the art itself. I strive to remain grounded, mindful of my imperfections, and committed to continuous improvement. After deep contemplation, I have decided to respectfully decline any such titles or prefixes."
Kamal requested that fans, media, and colleagues simply refer to him as Kamal Haasan, Kamal, or KH.
He added, "I earnestly ask all my fans, media, film industry members, party members, and fellow Indians to refer to me henceforth as Kamal Haasan, or simply Kamal or KH."
Previously, actor Ajith made a similar move by dropping his popular moniker "Thala" and requesting to be addressed as Ajith Kumar.
