Indian cinema has another moment of pride as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) unveiled the list of 323 feature films eligible for the 97th Academy Awards, and a few notable Indian films have made it.
Among them, Tamil star Suriya's Kanguva stands out. Despite its underwhelming box office performance, Kanguva has met the stringent eligibility requirements for the coveted Best Picture category.
Several other Indian films, including the Hindi adaptation of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Aadujeevitham, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, and Santosh, join Kanguva on this prestigious list. The Malayalam film All We Imagine as Light recently missed out on the Golden Globes and has also secured its spot on this list.
The Oscar journey progresses with the voting for nominations starting tomorrow and concluding on January 12. Following this phase, the Academy will unveil the final list of nominees on January 17, 2025.
