Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently sparked controversy with his comments on Rajinikanth's acting abilities. In a discussion about stardom and on-screen presence, RGV remarked that actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are larger-than-life figures who are admired for their charisma rather than their ability to blend into a character.
RGV even questioned whether Rajinikanth could exist without slow-motion shots, stating, "Is Rajinikanth a good actor? I don't know. I don't think Rajinikanth can do a Biku Matre (Satya). But people want to see him as a superstar. Without slow motion, I don't know how Rajinikanth can exist."
These remarks did not sit well with Rajinikanth's fans, who have since been trolling RGV on social media. They argue that a filmmaker of his stature should acknowledge the superstar's acting legacy and speak with more responsibility.
On the work front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in the film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
