Tamil hero Suriya is a well-known face in Telugu and also the most successful Tamil hero having the decent market in Telugu states. He is testing his luck by releasing his film- Thaanaa Serndha Koottam as Gang in Telugu in this festive season Sankranthi. Director Vignesh Shivan is collaborating with Suriya in this project which is a remake of Neeraj Pandey’s Special 26.

Story:

Tilak (Suriya) is an aspiring youngster to become a CBI officer and due to the corruption in the system, he fails to clear the interview of CBI Officer. At the same time, he observes the corruption in the recruitment process is the main reason for the unemployment problem.

At this juncture, he forms a duplicate team in the name of CBI with a group of people Ramya Krishnan, Siva Sankar, Senthil & Sathyan. After forming this group, they raid corrupted minister house. This turns out to a challenge to the real CBI people and they appoint a special officer Siva Sankar (Karthik) to find out this duplicate CBI group. Whether Siva Sankar catches the duplicate team or not will be unfolded on silver screen.

Actors & Performances:

Suriya: He essayed this role with a good ease and gave his best for the role. A special thing about him in the flick is about his dubbing for the role on his own in Telugu. He needs to be appreciated for doing this.

Keerthy Suresh: She got a very limited role in the flick. She appeared here and there in the whole movie.

Karthik: This veteran actor got a meaty role in the flick and did justification to the role of special officer.

Ramya Krishnan did a funny role in this movie as Bujjamma aka Jhansi Lakshmi. Her role brings some laughs in some scenes.

Remaining cast Siva Sankar, Senthil, Sathyan & Nandha Durairaj did their best.

Analysis:

Actually, Gang (Thaanaa Serendha Koottam in Tamil) is an official remake of Neeraj Pandey’s Special 26 (Hindi film).

Vignesh Shivn took the same base plot from the original and changed the screenplay of the film, especially in the climax. He even tried to create some comedy by using the main actors and also did some minor changes in the story.

However, when it comes to Telugu, the Telugu songs are not attractive and even the visuals of the songs may not appeal to the taste of Telugu audience. The nativity problem may arise to Telugu audience and could lose interest in some key scenes. Well, the screenplay should be even more gripping as these kinds of films needs that extra layer to push the audience to the mood of the film.

Dialogues from Shashank Vennelakanti are good and Suriya’s own dubbing is the one good point in the film. His voice is okay for the role.

If you already happen to the Special 26 film then this film may not give you that excitement except for the climax scenes.

Plus Points:

+ Story

+ Suriya

Minus Points

- Songs

- Nativity

Final Verdict:

You can give a try if you haven’t watch Special 26 yet.
