When you make a film, different forms of costs are incurred by the producers but it must be said that not all are mandatory. If planning is done rightly, a sizeable budget can be saved. One such segment is the promotion costs. Many times, this segment overshoots the prescribed figure.

As a result, the film industry is now working on ways and means to fix it. Going forward, only selected media, selected TV channels who give live coverage would be given the preference. The film industry would be giving ad to them. The TV channels who do live coverage they do it for free because ads are given to them.

In terms of websites, those which have maximum reach will be given a cost. In that aspect, the film chamber is taking few decisions and they want to curb the promotion cost. One confirmed news is they are planning to keep gossip sites and media establishments that deal with gossip far away and encourage others financially. A good budget would be given to them. The film industry believes media and movie should go hand in hand. Also, they are not saying reviews should be positive but they want them to be genuine. Today, conducting a press meet costs Rs 1 to 1.5 lakhs but with the new measures, they can be brought down to a large extent.
