'Music and Lyrics Par Excellence'- Kanche Audio Review

September 18, 2015 - 12:49 PM IST Varun Tej | Kanche

Kanche is an upcoming war saga starring the macho and reticent Mega Hero Varun Tej and Pragya Jaiswal in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Chirantan Bhatt and directed by the thought provoking filmmaker Krish who gave memorable films like Gamyam and Vedam earlier. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The retro themed album begins with a breezy duet Itu Itu Ani Chitikelu Evvarivo rendered by the talented duo Abhay Jodhpurkar and Shreya Ghoshal. Sirivennela’s poetic lyrics add greatly to the unique ambience created by this track ladled with South Indian flavor such as ghatam, lilting guitar and amazing interludes. It is a sure shot winner in every respect!

The powerful singer Shankar Mahadevan arrives next delivering an unpretentious track Ooru Erayyindhi Eru Horellindhi which speaks effortless about the pristine nature of villages and the heart of India in style. Sirivennela’s lyrical magic strikes again with timely usage of wonderful words. The track is feisty with nadaswaram, and an effective fusion of celtic bagpipes as well. The overall track creates a mesmerizing ambience for the listener to rejoice.

Nijemanani Nammani on the other hand is a melancholic melody sung by the sweetness overloaded Shreya Ghoshal in effortless ease. She gives the track a newfound life in form of her immortal voice and the orchestration religiously follows the lead- without coming much obvious in the forefront. Sirivennela’s lyrics are the heart and soul for this track.

The boiled up emotions of war are perfectly depicted in Bhaga Bhagamani sung by Aaradugula Bullettu fame Vijay Prakash making no mistakes. However, the track doesn’t confine to anger and motivation alone but touches various aspects of war’s impact such as sadness, despair, hopelessness and what not! One can notice the eerie chorus which was made to perfect use throughout the track’s progress.

A new ray of hope occurs with Raa Mundadugeddam which speaks about the lessons learnt in war and how peace can be restored with the sincere love and compassion. The track starts off as a journey of sadness but eventually takes the listener to a world of better tomorrow in terms of breathtaking music as well as thoughtful lyrics.

The flawless album of the season arrives to a fitting finale with an instrumental track Love is War possessing western classical magic ladled with mixed emotions and determination.  It is indeed a deserving climax for such a fantastic album!

Verdict:

Kanche is a musical and lyrical marvel which can be termed as one of the most influential albums released this year. Sirivennela Sitaramasastry scores a straightforward winner once again after Ok Bangaram!
