Being a Maharashtrian and aamchi Marathi mulgi, Sonali feels proud and honoured to endorse the ancient traditional weave and she feels strongly for the dying art of handloom in Maharashtra and would like to spread awareness about weaver's work.
For those not aware, Paithani uses the ancient technique of tapestry where multiple threads of different colours along with gold and silver threads are weaved together to form a fascinating piece of silk. It's made from natural silk or cotton with precious gold and silver metal threads that gives Paithani the Midas touch.
Sonali says , I do like wearing Paithani Sarees as I find them graceful. I have a collection from my mother n my mother in law. I would say my favorites are live chiffons as they are light can be dressed up or down with blouse, jewellery etc for day as well as night functions, can literally live in them. The reasons for me to be associated with it is that paithani reminds me of my mother, her mother, aunts.... In maharashtrian households ur wedding trousseau is not complete without a paithani.....Also it's weave motifs n Colors r so rich that it has been my fascination from d time I was a lil girl
