News that Vijay is making a Bollywood debut has been in news for some time now. While many have expected that he would be remaking Arjun Reddy in Hindi, news that Shahid Kapoor was on board was a surprise to them.

Well, the latest news is that Vijay has signed his first film in Hindi, where he will be playing the lead role, but instead a key role. Vijay is now part of ’83, the film which is a biopic on cricketer Kapil Dev and those times when he was the captain of the world cup winning team in the year 1983. Ranveer Singh is playing the role of Kapil in this film. Apparently, Vijay is roped in by the director to play the role of cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth, a Tamilian, who is also part of 1983's men-in-blue team.

In real life, both Kapil and Srikanth are very good friends and that makes us wait to thunderbolt performers, Ranveer and Vijay shine in the screen together. An official confirmation is awaited.
