Luckkunnodu Plot:
Lucky (Manchu Vishnu)'s father Bhaktavatsalam (Jaya Prakash) considers him unlucky as he faces all problems from the time Lucky was born. Slowly, Bhaktavatsalam develops hatred on son and does not like to talk with him. Lucky's only goal was to make his father call him by his name with love. As days pass by, Lucky comes across Positive Padma (Hansika) and successfully make her fall for him. One fine day, Lucky was given a bag of 25 crores, and he realises that the bag belongs to a criminal JK (MVV Satyanarayana). What did Lucky do with the bag? What did JK do to get back the bag? Did Lucky change his father's attitude towards him? Forms the rest of the film's story.
Performances:
Manchu Vishnu played a role that is similar to that of Dhenikaina Ready and Doosukeltha. There is nothing new in the characterisation. Unless Vishnu concentrates on characterization, he won't be getting any scope to perform. For this film, Manchu Vishnu did what he could do, and it is another passable character.
Hansika Motwani played a bubbly role and movies like this need heroines to come and go. Hansika looked gorgeous on screen, and she impressed in the songs and the scenes with Vishnu. Hansika did justice for the role given to her and acted as per her character's limitations.
MVV Satyanarayana as a villain is miscasting. Most of the time, he covered his eyes with Cooling Glasses, and his expressions remained mysterious. MVV lacks a promising screen presence, and he hardly makes us feel that he is a villain in the film. Srinivas Murthy gave the voice for MVV in the movie. For his personality, the voice sounded loud.
Posani Krishna Murali is entertaining in his comic role and succeeded in bringing few good laughs.
Actors like Jaya Prakash, Tanikella Bharani, Sravan, Fish Venkat, Vennela Kishore, Satyam Rajesh, Prabhas Sreenu, Raghu Babu and others made their presence felt.
Luckkunnodu Analysis:
Going by the theatrical trailer, Luckkunnodu appeared to be a fun ride. With the same expectations and positive feels, Luckunnodu begins off with an interesting aspect of money robbery. And the story shifts to some other place introducing the protagonist. Playing a safe game, the film unit has followed the usual success formula for this movie. They have developed an old illogical script by including routine fun/comedy elements. The first half of the film moves forward with no story happening. It's time that Tollywood also should come out of Stalking/Wooing a Girl but the film was struck at the same point where Vishnu follows Hansika, disturbs her in the beginning, sings a song and finally make her fall for him. The entire process is irritating, but this is what we are made to watch in Telugu films coming up with subjects like this.
In this movie Luckkunnodu, Jayaprakash hates his son (played by Vishnu) just because bad luck keeps on coming to him after Vishnu's birth and comes to a conclusion that son is the reason for that. There was never a justification given to this point. Jayaprakash prevents himself from uttering the name of Vishnu fearing that luck won't be favouring him. The story begins with revealing a robbery and then introduces us to lead actors but finally ends up at some other aspect. The screenplay was completely let down by a poorly written script. The comedy elements added to the script neither helped nor destroyed the film's flow. The actual point was that they fail to fit in this scenario. But the interval block of the movie is a major relief which raises hopes on the second half.
The second half starts well with good scenes. But the director failed to keep the audiences engaged with the film's plot. The hero and villain scenes were not up to the mark. The story could be given a better treatment, probably a good writing, but everything looks lazy here. The links and logics were neglected, and a bad writing tests our patience. The least expected in the film was a good climax, but with hasty writing, the climax ends just like that.
Merits:
- Few Comedy Scenes
- Cinematography
- Music
De-Merits:
- Story
- Screenplay
- Narration
Music:
The music scored by Achu Rajamani and Praveen Lakkaraju is good! Achu scored only one song (Ravera) in the film, and it is a good number. The other songs are okay. The background score by Chinna is good.
Others:
The performances from the actors are good. The production values maintained by MVV Cinema banner are rich. The cinematography by PG Vinda is a highlight of the movie. Vinda's camera work has helped the film a lot in getting great output on the screen. The editing by Madhu could have been crispy. The dialogues written by Diamond Ratna Babu are good. The writer worked hard to bring in some fun elements to the script. The artwork is nice. The fights are okay. Overall, the technical team is strong. The beginning titles were presented on a 2000 rupees note in an impressive manner. Mohan Babu's special appearance in the first song was good.
Luckkunnodu Verdict by iQlik:?
Luckkunnodu is a routine and regular boring film that comes as a comic drama. With more negative points than the positive ones, the film completely fails to impress. Can skip!?
