Both the actors came together for an exciting project Badla now. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of an advocate in the film. Tipped to be a remake of the Spanish thriller, The Invisible Guest that released in 2017, the movie Badla impressed with the theatrical trailer. The film released today and here's our review on the movie.
Plot:
A young entrepreneur Naina (Taapsee Pannu) finds herself in a locked hotel room next to the body of her dead lover. She claims that she has no connection with the murder, but all the evidence is against her. Hoping to find answers, she hires a prestigious lawyer Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan). What happens then? What is the truth behind the murder? Who killed Naina's lover? How did Badal Gupta help Naina? Forms the crux of the film's plot.
Performances:
The film majorly highlights the characters of both Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Being the most celebrated actors of the Bollywood film industry, both the actors have given their best for the movie. Taapsee's character got a lot of variations. She portrayed fear, innocence very naturally. Amitabh is the perfect choice for the role of Badal Gupta. Maanav is good in his limited role. Amritha Singh and Tony's roles are crucial in the movie, and they did well. The rest of the cast did their job well and made their presence felt.
Technicalities:
The film is the remake of a Spanish thriller and the makers have adopted the original film and maintained the gripping twists in the screenplay. The film has a great story, and the director elevated the same with a decent screenplay. The dialogues are meaningful and go well with all the situations. The background score by of the movie helps the film in elevating the right emotion properly. Avik Mukhopadhyay's visuals are stunning, and his camera work deserves a special mention. Monisha's editing is crisp. The less runtime is a big advantage for the film. The production values are grand.
Review:
The films made on a crime backdrop are always interesting when treated well. The suspense thrillers can keep the audiences stuck to their seats. The original movie 'The Invisible Guest' had a lot of interesting elements in the plot. The director adapted it well and chopped off the unwanted elements for the Indian version. The film entirely travels through the characters of Amitabh and Taapsee. They performed well and contributed their share for the film's success. The film's plot turns predictable in the first half itself. Still, the director keeps the excitement alive with interesting conversations. The second half is vital for the film as the story unfolds in different angles and comes to a conclusion. Except for a few shortcomings here and there, the film strikes the right chord.
Plus Points:
Performances
Camera Work
Dialogues
Screenplay
Minus Points:
Few Dragged Scenes in Second Half
Final Verdict: Badla is worth a watch!
