Ranarangam is a gangster drama that is creating a unique buzz in the film industry now. Sharwanand is all set to score a hit with the movie and he showed a lot of confidence in the movie. Read on to know the film's review.

Story:

A black ticket seller Deva (Sharwanand) gets into illegal liquor business during the prohibition period when NTR was a chief minister. His deeds push him into several situations that will make him turn a gangster. What did he do then? How did he manage all the situations? What happened in the end? Forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

Sharwanand's amazing performance as a gangster became the major strength of this film. He leads the movie from the front with his engaging performance. Especially during the 80s time period, Sharwanand has delivered his best performance and his Salt and Pepper look also worked really well.

Both Kajal Agarwal and Kalyani Priyadarshan are good in the movie. Both maintained beautiful chemistry with Sharwanand and also delivered mesmerizing performances in the film. Kalyani's appearance and Kajal's glamour added more strength for the film. Murali Sharma is good in his role. Ajay delivered an honest performance in the movie. Aadarsh Balakrishna is good. The rest of the actors also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Sudheer Varma has prepared an interesting plotline with action backdrop but there's no entertainment in it. The director has showcased the difference between the present era and 80s time period in a decent way. We can say that the director has failed in engaging the audience throughout the film with his interesting narration.

Production values by Surya Devara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments banner are lavish. Music by Prashant Pillai is outstanding. A couple of songs have already impressed the audience and he has scored some soothing and pleasant music for this movie. Cinematographer Diwakar Mani has produced some bright and captivating visuals for the film. Editing by Naveen Nooli is clean and neat.

Review:

The entire movie deals with two different time periods. When a part of the story runs with 80s backdrop, the rest of the film runs with the present generation. When compared to the present generation, the story during the 80s backdrop is showcased in a brilliant way. But there's no scene that still stands out as the best in the movie. The entire first half will definitely grab the attention with the interesting screenplay but the story goes out of the track in the second half.

The interval twist is also good. Instead of adding unnecessary scenes, the director could have focused more on adding some exciting sequences. The dialogues will definitely leave an impact on the audience. Performances, music, and narration will be the major plus points of this film whereas the predictable story in the second half becomes the minus point of the film. Overall, 'Ranarangam' is good with its own shortcomings.

Plus Points:

Sharwanand

Performances

Camera Work

Music

Minus Points:

Few Dragged Scenes

Uneven Story Structure

Final Verdict: Ranarangam Falls Short of Expectations
