George Reddy is the latest Telugu film that hit the screens today. The movie is a biopic based on the life of a student leader George Reddy who is famous for influencing the politics of the Telangana region in Osmania University between 1967 and 1972. He was brutally murdered at his hostel in 1972.
Sandeep Madhav who had earlier appeared in the biopic of Vangaveeti Ranga played George Reddy in the film. The trailer already impressed everyone. Read on the film's review.
Story:
Muskaan, a filmmaking student based in the USA wants to make a film on George Reddy and comes to India to meet her sources and gather information on him. The film traces the journey of Muskaan finding the bits and pieces of information on George Reddy. What is his life about? What did he do? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances:
Sandeep Madhav is definitely the major highlight of the film. The actor has delivered his 100 percent in essaying George Reddy's role. We can say that his energetic performance took the film to the next level. Shrinivas Pokale justified his role. Satyadev Kancharana's performance is worth appreciating. The actor has blended well with the character.
Devika Daftardar as George Reddy's mother delivered an honest performance. Muskaan Khubchandani looked beautiful in the film and also delivered a decent performance. Pawon Ramesh acted naturally. Manoj Nandam, Thiruveer, and Abhay Bethiganti also made their presence felt with their decent performances.
Technical Aspects:
Director B Jeevan Reddy sure came up with an interesting plotline for the movie. More than the unnecessary elements, the director showcased the vital phases of George Reddy's life. Though his taking is good, his slow-paced narration will test the patience of the audience. It would have been good if the director had focused more on the pace of narration, especially in the second half.
Production by Mic Movies, Three Line Cinemas, Silly Monks Studios are very high. Music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar and Suresh Bobbili added more strength for the film. Their BGM worked out well for the film. Sudhakar Reddy's camera angles and visuals are good. Editing by J Pratap Kumar is good.
Verdict:
As the film is a biopic, each and every scene of the film will increase the curiosity among the audience. The entire first half dealt with George Reddy's childhood as well as his early days in Osmania University. The interval block is excellent. However, the story becomes extremely slow in the second half. Though some of the action sequences as well as the emotional sequences will engage young audiences, most of the viewers will get irritated with the slow-paced narration of the director.
However, Sandeep Madhav's brilliant performance will be the major driving factor. The climax also got handled well. To conclude, 'George Reddy' is a worth watching movie.
