Iconic actor Kamal Haasan's much-awaited film Vikram has finally hit the screens. This Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial features Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi in the other pivotal roles. This massive star cast increased the hype on this movie. Here is the review of it.

Story:
A cocaine container worth millions of rupees goes missing. This leads to the assassinations of a few people. Amar (Fahadh Faasil) takes up the case and starts investigating with his team. In the process, he learns about Karnan (Kamal Haasan). On the flip side, Santhanam (Vijay Sethupathi) is the owner of the drug container and he is after it.

How do these three people cross each other's paths? What is Karnan's role in this story? Who is Vikram? To know these answers, you have to watch the film.

Performances:
Kamal Haasan has been terrific in his character. It has been a long time since we saw him in such a multi-dimensional role. Keeping aside the action episodes, Kamal showed his acting prowess in an emotional scene in the second half. It proves why he is called the legend.

Fahadh steals the show in the first half. It is a treat to watch him share screen space with Kamal. Vijay Sethupathi is very effective in the negative role. Though his screentime is relatively less, he makes an impact. Rest others performed well. Suriya's cameo is a blast.

Technical Aspects:
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is a huge fan of Kamal Haasan. He tried to weave the story with references from Kamal's earlier films and his own film Kaithi. This strategy hasn't worked to the best though. The screenplay could have been tighter.

Anirudh Ravichander is the hero on the technical front. He lifts each and every scene with his thumping background score. The cinematography by Girish Gangadharan is slick. The editing could have been crispier. The production values are great.

Review:
Vikram starts off on an interesting note and keeps us hooked to the seats right away. The momentum is maintained for a few minutes. But after a point, things become repetitive, especially with Kamal Haasan's characterization. The interval point is good but you predict it way earlier.

In the second half, the director unties the knots for the first few minutes. After that, all the thrills in the film end. It then turns out to be a regular action drama. When audiences are bored towards the climax, the director played a smart move by introducing Suriya. His cameo will bring cheers in the theatres. On the whole, Vikram is an average film that can be watched only for terrific performances from Kamal, Fafa and Sethupathi.

Plus Points:
Performances
Music & BGM
Stylish Making

Minus Points:
Weak conflict
Few dragged sequences

One Line Verdict: Full Style, Less Substance
