Mass Ka Das Vishwak Sen is back as an actor and director with his new film Das Ka Dhamki. Nivetha Pethuraj played the female lead in the movie. It hit the screens today on the occasion of Ugadi. Here is the review of it.

Story:
Das (Vishwak Sen) works as a waiter in a five-star hotel. He poses as a rich guy and traps a girl named Keerthy (Nivetha Pethuraj). On the flip side, Sanjay Rudra (Vishwaksen) is a super-rich businessman. In a series of events, Das happens to impersonate Sanjay and this move changes his life completely. What happens to Sanjay? Why Das had to impersonate him? To know these answers, you have to watch the film.

Performances:
Vishwak played a dual role in this movie. He is excellent as Das. This character is close to his body language and thus, he did it with ease. However, he tried hard but failed to impress as Sanjay Rudhra. For some reason, Vishwak seemed to be a misfit for that role.

Nivetha Pethuraj is confined to glamour and doesn't have anything special to offer as a heroine. Hyper Aadi and Rangasthalam Mahesh offer some good laughs. Rao Ramesh, Rohini, Ajay and Prudhvi were decent in their roles.

Technical Aspects:
Prasanna Kumar Bezawada wrote the story while Vishwak handled the screenplay and direction. The first half of the film is smoothly done with a linear commercial screenplay. However too many twists in the second half ruin proceedings.

Leon James did a good job with his music. Almost Padipoyindhe Pilla and Mawa Bro have already become chartbusters and they were shot well too. The cinematography by Dinesh K Babu is decent. The production values are great. The editing could have been better though.

Review:
Vishwak Sen made an impressive directorial debut with Falaknuma Das. He tries to repeat the same magic with Das Ka Dhamki. The first half of the film is a neatly shot commercial entertainer. The love track has nothing new but can work commercially. People will connect with Das's character very well. The comedy scenes are also fresh. The interval card comes up with a twist. It is in the second half that things go haywire. All of a sudden, the film becomes an action thriller. There are twists thrown in every five minutes. Too much of anything will spoil the dish. The same thing happened with Dhamki as well. Too many twists break the flow and irritate audiences at some point. If Vishwak continued the flow from the first half, the film would have become a hit for sure. Now, Das Ka Dhamki becomes a half-baked commercial venture.

Plus Points:
Vishwak Sen
First Half
Two Songs

Minus Points:
Second Half
Cancer subplot
Confusing screenplay

One-Line Verdict: Only Das; No Dhamki!
